Well, friends of the Aristocracy!
We will start now and we will receive it on the same day. In all its emotions, the fifty-eighth interview of our page. We will speak with a band that marries Death\Doom and a little of the savagery that only Italy is capable of producing. We're talking about Assumption, who has new members and their second album is coming in a full week. This is Hadean Tides. No need to introduce the band. I'll explain why. We asked questions, precisely about the new members and their answers with Giorgio already they answer everything for you. Now, music on that there. Just remembering that a first album was made in 2018.Line Up:
Giorgio Trombino - Vocals, Guitar, Synthesizers Matija Dolinar - Guitar Claudio Troise - Bass David Lucido - Drums and Percussion
A1:Talking about the composition work in Hadean Tides?
Giorgio:The songwriting process began as early as 2018, so what you get now is the result of a few years of accumulation of material, hence the different atmospheres and some drastically diverse musical moments. I usually record home demos for the other guys to listen to and evaluate. We never take anything for granted and there’s always room for talking, altering stuff or even discarding songs if we feel that they don’t represent the band 100%.
A2:What and how are the transitions made for this album?
Giorgio:I’m not sure I really got what you mean, but I have a different view on the concept of “transition” anyway. You can use one or more transitions to link songs that are somehow detached, whereas we wanted to have an album that, in spite of stylistically changing situations, would feel fluid and connected from head to toe. It’s a trip across Hadean Tides. That’s how we see it.
A3:What adventures can we have on this album?
Giorgio:We hope listeners will feel a sense of impending destruction experienced through some kind of trance.
A4:Does each song have its own path or are they similar but linear stories?
Giorgio:It’s not a concept album but there definitely is a fil rouge that ties it all up together. There’s an atmosphere hanging over the entire record. Maybe it’s the production or maybe just the nature, structure and development of the tunes.
A5:We know it's only the fifth song. But, the band has their own Liquescent Hours?
Giorgio:Of course. We drink and do drugs just like many others.
A6:Funeral Doom's influence is very well structured. At what moments, can we see them more clearly?
Giorgio:Last 15 minutes long song “Black Trees Waving” is the closest we ever got to a “pure sounding” funeral doom song the way our masters THERGOTHON or EVOKEN intended it to be. They wrote the rules.
A7:A band often says that this work is recommended for fans of another band. But the interviewing philosophers want deep answers. What sonic and lyrical differences, can we have in Oranssi Pazuzu and Assumption? I really like the courage and the scope of their music but I don’t think we’re any similar, sound-wise.
A8:Evidently, having the inclusion of new components is fundamental to the plans. Tell us, how did the arrivals of Matija Dolinar and Claudio Troise happen?
Giorgio:We’ve known Claudio for many years as he played with David and me in Undead Creep. Matija joined in 2018. I really couldn’t ask for more, both as musicians and as friend. There’s a closeness that goes beyond the physical distance we have to endure. We live in four different places and never get to meet as much as we want to.
A9:How band arrive to Everlasting Spew Records?
Giorgio:I think they got in touch with us. Not sure but anyway David handled that. Before them, we were on Terror From Hell Records. More offers were made by other labels around the time our mini album “The Three Appearances” came out.
A10:Why an visionare work?
Giorgio:Because that’s what this band is all about: the realm of vision.
A11:What´s the idea behind artwork´s album?
I had a precise idea about it and told Mariya Popyk, who’s a very talented painter, to represent it with her own touch. I gave her some references and then she mixed them all up and came out with this very fantasy-looking cover art that really suits the mood.
A12:Based on the band changes and Hadean Tides songs, should we see humanity as agony or an animal for health?
Giorgio:I hope it’s just the unaware agony before a liberation and expansion of our consciousnesses.
A13:I need the band's honest opinion. What are your opinions on the Sludge and Stoner strands?
Giorgio:We like some of them. Eyehategod, Weedeater, 13, Grief, Samothrace, Bongzilla, you name them.
A14:Are any of them embraced by the band? Their influence on our stuff is extremely marginal.
A15:How was doing shows in Japan,Copenhagen,Belgiun and of course,Italy?
Giorgio:Awesome. Kill-Town Death Fest is absolutely fantastic, like the go-to situation for a band like ours, and even Tokyo’s Asakusa and Belgium were great experiences through and throughout.
A16:Can i feel differences between Absconditus and now in Hadean Tides?
Giorgio:New album, is so much better in many ways, but the quest isn’t certainly over. Thanks for reaching out!
