Well, Friends of the Aristocratic Lipeverse. We speak again of our newsroom. Where we will now follow in all our emotions, the forty-first interview that we have just received and again exclusive to a national vehicle. in it. Something that the 70's did and still make the minds of metalheads delirious. We can say that this band has a double history.Well, they started their musical life in New Zealand, today Switzerland has adopted these three elements. It was not agreed that we would talk to Powertrios, because we didn't. Things happen. We talk about Carson. Another coincidence is that they show us their third album enttled The Wilful Pursuit Of Ignorance.New Zealanders adopted by Switzerland are formed as follows:VOX/GUITAR Kieran Mortimer-Jones, BASS | Elina Willener and DRUMS | Jan Kurmann.Time for song and start at interview!
A1:Talking about the composition work in The Wilful Pursuit Of Ignorance?
Carson:Hello! This album was written a bit differently to that of our last album Drown the Wintess, in that the songs were mostly finished before we arranged them together as band. I wrote the majority of the songs in New Zealand during the wonderful Corona Lock-down and presented them to the band apon my return to Switzerland. We then together chose the best pieces and arranged them together. We deliberately kept the songs compact this time round as we felt Drown the Witness tunes were a bit long due to them being written from Jam sessions.
A2:What was the trigger for this feeling of a black soul to exist?
Carson:The world we live in.
A3:As much as it is intentional, is ignorance seen by the band in a realistic, optimistic or pessimistic way?
Carson:The theme behind the album artwork and title track, ‘The Wilful Pursuit of Ignorance’ is a reference to humanity turning a blind eye to atrocities occurring in the world, both humanitarian and environmental. Therfor pessimistic.
A4:Evidently the band plays stoner. But does the fact that they are from different countries generate reality shocks when rehearsing or preparing the songs?
Carson:No, music is our language and we are all fluent.
A5:Some literature or film inspire the band?
Carson:The Clint Eastwood film ‘The Good the Band and the Ugly’ provided the inspiration for the band name ‘Carson’. Bill Carson is the grave stone where the treasure is buried.
A6:Is the journey that the band tells based on real events?
Carson:The lyrics are drawn from feelings, observations, depression, addiction, sex, frustration.
A7:Is the men like specie an experience going wrong?
Carson:Yes, we’re all going to die.
A8:How is Carson different from your previous bands?
Carson:Its better, LOL. We’ve been together for 10 years and haven’t had any time for any other bands.
A9:How hard is doing distinctive musical style?
Carson:Very hard. As an artist you are always trying to write original music but at the same time have it sound familiar enough that people can get down to it, and understand it.
A10:What kind of subject don´t deserve a Carson song?
Carson:We don’t do love songs.
A11:What´s the idea behind artwork´s album?
Carson:The theme behind the album artwork and title track, ‘The Wilful Pursuit of Ignorance’ is a reference to humanity turning a blind eye to atrocities occurring in the world, both humanitarian and environmental. The bees are representative of nature as bees pollinate our flora, providing life for our fauna and we turn away and remain wilfully ignorant whilst they die and then ultimately bury ourselves.
A12:Literally speaking: is the world ridiculous?
Carson:Humans are ridiculous.
A13:What´s bands influence yours?
Carson:Foghat, The Mars Volta, Arctic Monkeys, Firestone, Deftones, Soundgarden, The Doors.
A14:This album is conceptual?yes or no and why?
Carson:No,not really. The songs write themselves. The only planning was to stylistically keep the songs short, sharp, heavy and to the point.
A15:The band feel differences between Drown The Witness and now in The Wilful Pursuit of Ignorance?
Carson:We had a clear idea of how we wanted the production for this album. We learnt a lot whilst making ‘Drown the Witness’. We took more control in the studio and made sure we got the sound we needed.
A16:How the band arrive to Sixteentimes Music?
Pure luck. Sometimes in life you get breaks, and this would be one of them. Long live Sixteentimes Music.
A17:Is it better to think of the human being as agony than an animal for health?
Carson:I believe the average human being is kind and considerate to all of nature. But the degree of separation we have with everything we influence in the world is too large and we lose our own humanity along the way.
