Well,Friends Of Aristocracy!

We speak again of our newsroom, where in a little while, we will have, in all its emotions, the interview 172 of the Aristocracy. This time, we talked to a duo that makes exciting songs, but knows how to spread thoughts of escape and repressed anger. The devastating effect of their songs is almost immediate. But, it's worth it despite clear dissonances. at the end of June this year, their debut album titled Consuming the Light. We want to thank the duo for their great work and for answering our questions.Let's go to one of their songs so that we can start this exclusive interview for a Brazilian media.

A1:Introduce who's who in the band, please?

Hellishdust: Eihort is a duo at the moment. The lineup is A.Doing all the music and Hellishdust on vocals and also taking care of the lyrics and designs. We are considering extending our lineup of live musicians to play some shows in the future.

A2:Talking about the composition work in Consuming The Light?

A:All Eihort songs on the album were composed between March and August 2020.Mostly at night. The plan was to make a demo at first, but soon after we decided to get it recorded and produced slightly more professionally and release it as an album, albeit still a rather short one and pretty simple structure-wise.Generally, I tried not to overthink or dwell too much on the songs when composing the material, it felt right to make the process fairly spontaneous at the time, a lot of the guitar leads and melodies were also improvised during the recording sessions.

A3:What kind of transmutation in the mind did the band want to bring in the fourth song?

H: We don’t want to bring anything to anyone. This lyric is about travelling through the dreamland to transmute your mind and soul to reach much more distant dimensions.

A4: I agree with the band to cover Samael, because I like the band as much as you do.But, why was this decision made besides having the same personal taste?

H: This is my favourite Samael album and I just adore this song so the choice was simple. Besides, it completely represents the style we both like.

A:An incredibly influential band that’s often overlooked, compared to early bands from Scandinavia. And one of our personal favourites, of course.

A5:Every Black Metal band has cold blood. But, how to make this a serenade?

H:The title is a fragment of the lyric,a serenade to the unmatched. Which one? You need to find it by yourself.

A6:Some literature or film inspire the band?

H: I’m into horror as a genre in general.A huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft here.Books, movies and comic books are a massive inspiration for me. Also, I read a lot of occult stuff.

A7:Why the band have this name?

H: It’s a great match for the music and atmosphere we create. We are the pale beast that consumes the light.

A8:How is Eihort different from your previous bands and projects?

H:We listen to a lot of different genres and play different styles in different bands as we like diversity. Each band is different as it carries a different emotional charge.

A9:What´s the idea behind artwork´s album?

H:The artwork was done by the great artist Robert A. von Ritter. It's a tribute to the early black metal scene. It has some elements that also reflect our more recent times too, like pestilence and death.

A10:Through oil and blood the first song was obtained. But, was it the oil and blood of some creature created by the band or does it exist in the real world so to speak?

H:It refers to the ceremonial magick rituals from the Crowley's - Magick (Book 4) and it's up to you to you believe in its existence.

A11:This album is conceptual?

H: No,it's a mixture of different concepts and stories with occult overtones.

A12:How band arrive to Odium Records?

H: I know Shadow for many years as I cooperate with him on graphic design basis and A. cooperates with him doing some recording sessions for his Shadow’s bands and projects. He is a very good bloke and he’s doing a great job with his label and his band Black Altar, so when the opportunity to work together came up, we both (A. and I) agreed that it might be an interesting collaboration.

A13:I believe musicians are experienced. But starting from scratch is a new project challenging or has Black Metal always been a close friend of the band?

H:We are both metalheads for many years and black metal was always at the top of our interests. We play in many bands with different genres. We also have other projects together.

A14:What would the 2022 Eihort say to the 2020 Eihort?

H: Keep what you are doing as it's the right direction.

A15:It is clear that evil exists, what we must question is whether there is good?

H: Evil and good is a concept that has duality, some people say that one cannot exist without another. I consider it to be more of an individual point of view. Something that is good for one, might be considered evil for others. We are like Hellpriest from Hellraiser said “Explorers, in the further regions of experience. Demons to some, angels to others”.

A16:What should we not have mercy on?

H: Depends on the needs, I would say.One for sure no mercy for idiocracy and politics.

A17:Who would better understand the band? A religious or a witch and why?

H: Religious people don’t listen to black metal (that’s a good thing about it) and witches might consider us too dark so the answer is none of those.
