Release: A Lie Nation - Sociopathology Format: Digital Release Date: July 1st 2022 Record label: Inverse Records Genre: Black/death Metal Country: Finland Finnish melodic black/death metal band A Lie Nation is set to release their debut album Sociopathology on July 1st 2022 via Inverse Records. Two singles God of This Age & Scum has already been released from the upcoming album and those tracks will give an excellent foretaste what to expect from the album. BIOGRAPHY: A Lie Nation was formed by a fusion of two garage bands when drummer Markus Leinonen and guitarist (currently bassist) Joonas Kokkoniemi got to know each other in the year 2009 in Oulu, Finland. The group sought its form by playing cover songs and had its first rehearsals with three guitarists while vocalist Miikka Pyykkönen took care of both singing and bass guitar. First set lists consisted of several well known metal songs by various extreme metal bands. However, it soon turned out that there was composing skills present in the band when guitarist Jussi Tuomisto introduced songs of his own for the band. As a result, covers were slowly dropped from the set list and original songs were found play worthy. At this point an obligatory change of responsibilities was also made as Joonas switched his instrument to a bass guitar, leaving the guitars in the hands of Jussi and Joni Moisanen.

The group remained nameless until the year 2010 when a need for a name became relevant as a chance for the first live performance presented itself. Miikka thought of a word play for the term “alienation” and the band was officially named as A Lie Nation. In the year 2011 the band got its first gig which also served as a turning point for pushing the band into a more serious base.

After a few digital demos the first real release was published in 2015. Human Waves EP presented the band at its more matured form. The self-published EP was recorded and produced entirely by the band members and the lessons of promotion and live performing were learned by the hard way, with no external help. The EP was received well by the metal media, and was often considered as fresh and energetic in reviews. Several gigs also followed the release and the band earned valuable live experience while pushing towards future releases.

The second EP “Begin Hate” saw the light of day in 2017. Again a production fully handled by the band, but this time the release was done by Inverse Records. The first music video “Shooting the Messenger” was also released along with the EP. Begin Hate steered more towards a black metal sound, although still retaining an energetic sound typical for the band.

After Begin Hate started a long process to produce the very first album of the band. With lessons learned from the first two EP’s, this time around things were planned more thorough. Production values were higher than ever before, and the goal was to create the most professional sounding music yet. After many obstacles the first A Lie Nation album “Sociopathology” is to be released in 2022. The album could be considered a hybrid between the first two EP’s with added tempo and aggression, still having the signature energy within. Second music video “God of This Age” is also released alongside the album.

A Lie Nation is driven by aggressive energy springing from the dark depths of northern Finland. Black metal style vocals are accompanied by heavy, yet melodic, guitars and straightforward uncompromising rhythms. Musically A Lie Nation could be described as a fusion of melodic death and black metal.

The Finnish power metal regiment, Remains of Destruction, released their album called “New Dawn” on May 28, 2022. The revolutionary album transports the listener through beautiful melodies, heavy riffs, and epic moods. R.O.D has released a total of five singles from the album that have received good feedback, and the band assures that listeners will not be disappointed with their first full-length album. "New Dawn" has also had high-level collaborators, such as Topias Kupiainen of Arion, long-time power metal expert Esa Orjatsalo, award-winning game music composer Kohld Haveneson, and Venezuela's gift to music production, producer Felipe Grüber. The songs' themes on the album primarily deal with modern-day themes, and the texts revolve around the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, and the current state of humanity.

The band's singer Jesse Yrjölä, who was responsible for the production and recording of the album, says of the new album: “New Dawn” is an epic journey through a post-apocalyptic fictive alternate reality full of velocity and dangerous situations. The album follows the real world's ugly situation through a third-person view, likened to a slightly whimsical universe according to our ideology through the eyes of different characters. The concept of the album and some of the songs was in mind even before the whole band was formed. In the turn of the year, when our lineup was complete, we decided together to book an album-release gig and made a deal that we are going to finish the album by the gig. At that time we had released 3 singles and a total of five songs had been written! We worked our asses off throughout the beginning of the year and we were able to finish an album consisting of nine songs 3 weeks before the release! “the band’s singer laughs”. We got a real supergroup of awesome peers who I want to thank a thousand times for their work! Without them, this album would have never seen the light of day. We hope everyone gets on board with us to spread the message of power metal!

Darkness of God is the best Immolation album I’ve heard all year. Heaving Earth has done an admirable job of infusing old-school stylings with a diverse set of modern death metal influences, creating a final product that transcends those influences. The band’s evolution from Denouncing the Holy Throne is measured but noticeable enough to help Darkness of God stand out in the old-school death metal scene. Heaving Earth sometimes loses sight of what matters, meandering through overlong sections without the requisite riffs to stay interesting. Still, Darkness of God is a worthwhile listen for fans of death metal of any species. If you hate God but love riffs, look no further.

Saudi Melo-Death IMMORTAL PAIN

Immortal Pain is powerful and melodic, adding an edge to typical melodic death metal. They incorporate personal themes to drive home the passion and emotion even more. They are recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Arch Enemy.
