Well,Friends of Aristocracy!

We speak again of our newsroom, where we will start in all your emotions, the ninety-third interview of this page.Chatting today with the Finnish Brutal Death Metal band Devenial Verdict. The band shows us their debut album titled Ash Blind. This album still doesn't have a release date. But, we will start this interview now and after, some parts, we will make cuts to some songs, two to be more precise. Let's go and Riku gives us this important interview and that showed their album via Indian record label Transcending Obscurity.

A1:Let´s talking about the composition work in Ash Blind?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Most of the songs have their roots in negative thoughts and depression and music is the perfect outlet for those. Songs are mostly composed by Sebastian with a riff here and there by Riku, lyrics are all by Riku but the final arrangements are made by the band together. Influences are emptiness, loneliness and the eventual catharsis of being able to create something from those ingredients.

A2:It's not that I don't like dissonant elements, but bands do it in many ways, tastes or flavors. What would the Devenial Verdict way be like?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:We don’t really aim for specific dissonant elements, but when they create a nice contrast in the music we’re all for them. We want them to enhance the atmosphere of the songs as a whole.

A3:I like the sound changes made by you. But, what are the reasons that led to this correct decision?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:It was a natural trajectory as there wasn’t a decision to make changes. We wanted to broaden our horizons and write some music that didn’t feel forced. Also the darker and more melancholy tones and lyrics derived from battles with depression as the creation process itself is very therapeutic for us as it gives us a chance to funnel those negative thoughts into something positive.

A4:Not that an atmosphere of mysteries is not good, it is good. I really liked it. But, what

mysteries do you want to bring to the press and of course to the fans?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:We want people to notice new things in our music on repeated listens. There are many great hooks on the album that we really like.

A5:What band mean with Ash Blind besides being the name of the album?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:It pretty much describes what’s happening on the cover art. The figure is standing there watching the skies burn and blinding them. They are becoming one with the end of the world and though afraid, they rejoice in the impending doom.

A6:How band arrive to Transcending Obscurity Records?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:We were aware of the label for a long time before signing and were huge fans of some of their bands. Our good friend Kari from Sepulchral Curse who are also on Transcending Obscurity recommended the label to us, so we sent a few of our songs to Kunal Choksi and in the end he wanted to sign us!

A7:What´s the idea behind artwork´s album?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:You’ll have to ask that from Mariusz Lewandowski! But when we saw the artwork we knew we had to have it as the cover of our debut album. It perfectly encapsulates the music and the lyrics of the album.

A8:Some literature or film inspire the band?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Movies by Lars von Trier and Ari Aster are some of our favorites. Some video games have also left their marks in our brains, games such as the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne.

A9:How is Devenial Verdict different from your previous bands?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Our goals and ambitions are unified as are our musical ideas. We’re committed to working together as we have for 10 years and it really feels like a family.

A10:Attention! Look at this sentence. It is clear that evil exists, what perhaps we can question is whether there is good?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:There really is evil in the world nowadays, but we really do believe that in the end good wins. Hope is something that you must have and a will to be the best you can.

A11:What scariest verdict do you want to give fans?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:The current path towards climate catastrophe we’re on. We’re slowly burning and suffocating.

A12:This album is conceptual? Riku-Devenial Verdict:In a way, yes. The lyrics delve into the subject matter of loneliness and cosmic insignificance, albeit from varying angles. These subjects intertwine in a story of planetary destruction and just waiting for the end to come.

A13:What´s bands influence ours?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Too many to count, but some of the biggest influences have been Morbid Angel, Alice in Chains, Decapitated, Ulcerate, Meshuggah and many, many others.

A14:Which philosophers inspire the band?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Philosophers themselves aren’t that influential in our music or lyrics, but some that we enjoy are Kant, Voltaire and Sartre.

A15:With social networks, can we say that we live in the most deceitful time there is?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Social media enables people to project a picture of life that isn’t truthful. The picture projected there isn’t reality, but we believe that social media does have it’s positive sides as well.

A16:What would the 2022 DV say to the 2006 DV?

Riku-Devenial Verdict:Just keep doing what you are doing and be patient! Stay safe,Riku / DV
