Well,Friends of Aristocracy!

We talk about our newsroom, to start with all your emotions, the sixty-eighth interview with Band Indian Spasmodia. The band presents its debut EP titled Malicious Premontions. We have posted it completely and now the conversation we had with them.

Thanks to Metal Bite website, because we know the band through them.

A1:Talking about the composition work in Malicious Premonitions ?

Spasmodia:We wrote the songs in a sequence and wanted to have a theme in mind centered around a character. But, also make sure that if the songs are heard individually, they present a different perspective, not related to the theme.Hence it’s lyrically abstract, yet when it comes to the instruments, it’s cohesive in its build up,from a slightly melodic, techy feel, to pure brutal death.

A2:Of course, when listening to the first song we see a zombie-like evil. But I wonder: The ideas can also arise because we see a mentally unstable society?

Spasmodia:Very close. Each zombie is an indicative of each song, that's why we have five zombies, society has a way of correcting itself when a tyrant rules over. Looking at world politics and it's current state, you will corrections where the public will take matters into their own hands at tyrant dictators. The first song is when a tyrant is born and what events in his life dele did he face that made him the tyrant.

A3:In the second song, we all know that sacrilege happens for religious reasons. But wouldn't that just be a kind of trigger for the other evils that our world is full ?

Spasmodia:Absolutely. It’s a domino effect. When one man/woman shows what can be done, others get the confidence to pursue their intention. The second song is just that. There is an instigation and influence the tyrant presents which empowers the public in the wrong way. Symbolic of what Putin is doing to his army and public supporters in the Ukraine war.

A4:Not that I don't like mockery, but what kind of mockery does the band make in their fourth song?

Spasmodia: it’s actually quite the opposite. I’m glad you say it gives an impression of mockery, because we only want all the lyrics to make sense as a long story when read in a sequence from song 1-5. The fourth song is straight up gore in its lyrical content. Coupled with sone of the heaviest riffs we’ve written. Very a vaguely, it speaks about the treatment of a tyrant when imprisoned along with his enemies. It can lead to a very tragic and gory state of affairs.

A5:Some literature or film inspire the band?

Spasmodia:Akhilesh (guitarist/producer) of the band enjoys reading novels and game design in his spare time. He brought over that ideas when thinking of the lyrics!

A6:How is Spasmodia different from your previous bands?

Spasmodia:Keshav (drummer/vocalist) played in Biopsy which is another Brutal Death metal band from Mumbai, which is currently defunct. Akhilesh (guitar/bass/lyrics) comes mainly from a prog-metal/death metal sphere and his first new venture into writing brutal death since it’s such a straight up genre, he had to approach music writing from the lenses of a brutal death metal band and re learn, re think and re write a few parts along the way.

A7:Why the band have this name?

Spasmodia: Spasmodia was a name we mutually came up with while discussing a name that indicates insanity and brutality in its lyrical content and music compositional style. Spastic naturally was our first idea, but we reworked it to Spasmodia, since it sounds better and more unique. A8:What makes the band so complex?

Spasmodia:Channeling our day to day frustrations being in India and love for heavy music. Plus the guitarist is now settled in USA, so working online across the border has been challenging, yet rewarding.

A9:The band plains to do an full album ?

Spasmodia:Yes,we have already started writing our full length. Will release in 2023.Hope to play live gigs then too.

A10:What´s the idea behind artwork´s album?

Spasmodia:Each character in the artwork represents the central character during development through different stages of his life. Hence we have 5 characters.

A11:What kind of subject don´t deserve a Spasmodia song?

Spasmodia:we mainly stick to gore and insanity. It sometimes manifests itself into the reality of politics and humane treatment of each other.

A12:What´s bands influence ours?

Spasmodia:Inherit disease, devourment, goregasm, pathology, defeated sanity.

A13:This album is conceptual?yes or no and why?

Spasmodia:Yes it’s a concept album, but it was unintentional. We were going with the general theme of gore and insanity, and the lyrics manifested itself into a concept. As said before, if the song lyrics are read in a sequence, they do present a story of a tyrant from birth to death. But when the song is read individually and not in sequence, it’s straight up.

A14:Literally Speaking:Is the world ridiculous?

Spasmodia:Yes, it is beautifully fucked. It’s moments of hope and happiness riddled with chaos, confusion and jealousy. Finding the harmony in inharmony and appreciating that movement. All while being constantly moving and not stopping.

A15:Is a men an animal that carries the corpse on his back all the time?

Spasmodia:For sure, as a human you can define the amount of burden you choose to carry in some instances. In others, you are either obligated or confined to do so. Such is that state of our world.

A16:Is it better to think of the human being as agony than an animal for health?

Spasmodia:Agony is a natural state for all beings. We are animals with more developed thinking, feeling and logic. This may sound controversial, but animals, although very smart, do not exceed the intellect of humans. We should provide a sanctuary to animals as a general law of nature because we need to co-exist, not exploit them.Happiness makes sense when one experiences agony. Utopian societies can exist when the health and happiness is experienced in conjunction with sadness, depression and morose.

A17:What you mean with intricate songwriting ?

Spasmodia:We have detail in every sentence. Zoning in on the minutia of the lyrical content presents a much more dense story, rather than straight up gore and insanity. The lyrics are well thought out and not just murderous rampages.
