The Aristocracy proudly presents its Twenty-fifth Interview. This time, we're going to talk to the British of Infested Angel. A band that shows the brutality of Death Metal allied to the evil energy of Black Metal. The band shows us their debut album titled Submit To Death. The band is formed by Andy on Vocal And Guitar, Tom on Bass and Pat on Drums. Andy answered our questions. Let's go to a song of theirs so we can follow this interview in all its emotions.
A1:Talking about the composition work in Submit To Death?
Andrew:Hi and thanks for approaching us!The songs you hear on submit to death were composed in a mixture of ways. Due to not being able to get together over the pandemic, some songs were demoed by one of us working in isolation before bringing into rehearsal, whereas a few were put together in our rehearsal space with me putting music to drum patterns or vice versa. The backwards guitar music in the intro is actually something I’ve had written for over 20 years. A Portent Toward the Swallowing’ is a noise exploration by Tom created in the studio. A2:Which drought do you refer to in the second song?
Andrew:The ‘drought’ refers to the emptiness that one feels in loss, after a loved one has died. The song deals with feelings of loss, hoping that you won’t forget those that are gone and that their spirits will guide you.
A3:It´s more easy or more pratical a band like powertrio?
Andrew: Having one guitarist helps with ego clashes I’ve experienced before! It also helps with transportation. So far we’ve been able to fit all our gear in two cars for gigs!
A4:It is said that the band deals with the topic of suicide. This way of dealing with it is the way with reason as was the work of Dostoieviski which is called The Dream of a Ridiculous Man or you treat suicide as nonsense or there is for the band a third way of thought?
Andrew: {Ha!} not quite like Dostoevsky! Many of our songs deal with suicidal thoughts and those being the product of poor mental health. It’s a very serious issue that troubles many people we know and love and so I hope our music can be some sort of catharsis for those feelings, reminding people that they are not alone.
A5:Some film inspire the band?
Andrew:Not to a great extent, though the song title ‘Hell Closes ,a tragic lane’ is an inversion of a lyric from The Wizard of Oz’s ‘Over the Rainbow’ which goes ‘Heaven opens a magic lane’.Also, Ennio Morricone’s music from the classic Spaghetti Western trilogy have certainly influenced me. Check out ‘The Trio’ from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly’.A wonderful emotive piece.
A6:How is Infested Angel different from your previous bands?
Andrew: I have previously been in a traditional speed metal sort of band and some other projects that didn’t go anywhere or that were short-lived. I am in an improv noise duo called Brutar Weimaz, also. The difference for me in Infested Angel is that I’m finally getting to play the music that’s been playing in my head for decades. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do so I’m not taking anything for granted.
A7:What kind of mental illness most influence the band?
Andrew:As above, mostly losing control of the anxieties in one’s life, your irrational paranoias, and that snowballing into suicidal contemplation.Always talk to someone, kids, I do!I owe my life to my friends.
A8:Literally Speaking:Is the world ridiculous?
Andrew: It is when people choose to harm others. Why can’t we all find a way to co-exist without abuse, slaughter or violation? I also worry at the lack of regulation around social media, our children are swallowing misinformation and having their menta health issues galvanised by irresponsible platforms.
A9:Why the band have this name?
Andrew:Initially we just thought it sounded cool but it has come to represent our messaging artistically,we want to be happy, caring, sharing humans but we're slowly being ruined by our time on earth to the point where functioning normally is difficult
A10:What the band mean with Denaturate?
Andrew:The term ‘denaturing’ refers to a breakdown of cells,of living matter. The song deals with mass pollution and the destruction of all life. It’s a nightmare scenario and something that may come to bear for future generations.
A11:What kind of visceral reflections of despair influence the band?
Andrew:As above, much of our lyrical subject matter deals with the despair taking over.
A12:The band feel differences between Nourish Me,Satan and now in Submit To Death?
Andrew:Submit to Death has some of our very most recent songwriting in it and so represents our furthest artistic progression. Also, the production is much crisper this time around which we hope is enjoyable for listeners. It is also much longer!
A13:This album is conceptual?yes or no and why?
Andrew:It isn’t conceptual other than the lyrical themes mentioned earlier. It is simply the best bunch of songs we could produce at this time!
A14:What kind of misery influence the band?
Andrew:Struggle within the human condition, as mentioned above.Dealing with being alive and with interacting with other people through perpetual, seemingly irresolvable self-doubt
A15:Is the men like an specie an experience going wrong?
Andrew:I think we should do more to protect our planet and one another. The greediest don’t seem to realise that there needs to be a planet left for them to enjoy the wealth they’re amassing.Often at the expense of people who can’t afford to feed their children.
A16:Based on the songs of album and your own opinion,is it better to think the human being as agony than an animal for health?
Andrew:I would like us all to aspire to be healthy animals. In England, there is much greater concern for mental health and healthy eating than ever before.Hopefully that lasts for future generations! I would hope that listening to our fucking miserable songs will help people feel better.
