Twenty-Seventh Interview With the Band Dragonbreed

The Aristocracy arrives at its Twenty-seventh Interview. The Aristocracy arrives at its Twenty-seventh Interview. The Union is strong. Of course it does, but some people took it too seriously. One of the great proofs of this is our interviewees today. We talk with the Band Dragonbreed. The band show for us your debut album Necrohedron. The band have this formation:Stefano Fiori on Vocal,Arkadius Antoik and Sebastian Jensen on Guitars,Christoph Zacharowski on Bass and Ken Jentzen on Drums. All band answer our questions.Let's go to one of their songs so that this interview starts in all your emotions.

A1:Let's talk about the composition work in Necrohedron?

Dragonbreed:The idea came about after finishing the writing process for SuidAkrAs “Wolfbite” album. During this process we had a couple of parts, ideas and even songs that would not quite fit the concept, feeling and/or direction we were looking for at that time and so we shifted them to a later phase. We quickly realized that various old school Melodic Death Metal Parts made their way into this collection. I came up with the idea of perhaps making something new, different out of it a new project that deals with this genre of music, requires a different approach and presents it as a challenge.

A2:What´s the differences between Graveworm, Suidakra, and Dragonbreed?

Dragonbreed:The stories of the bands SuidAkrA and Grawevorm have always been very closely intertwined, as a result of which, during that period, a very strong friendship was struck between us. We were always kind of more or less in contact with each other over time. Of course, they are different bands in terms of members, music, history, etc. But,the joint project Dragonbreed, which has now emerged, can perhaps also be interpreted as a natural and logical consequence of all this. The joy of making music with friends and incorporating your own or new style into the music, namely that of Melodic Death Metal.

A3:What omen are you referring to in the fourth song?

Dragonbreed:The lyrics all tell different stories involving the Necrohedron. There is no chronological storyline, each song is a different episode.Like the Hellraiser movies all revolve around the puzzle box but each movie is a different story. Because the Necrohedron is a reference to an object that is used to make the dead ones come alive again by distorting reality and opening portals the Sinister Omens, you are referring to in the 4th song refer to exactly this situation,a kind of dark prophecy that terrible creatures will enter reality through a portal to change everything.

A4:Some literature or film inspired the band?

Dragonbreed:The Artwork as well as the lyrics on our first release are beautifully done by our friend Kris. There is no ready-made concept/storyline on which the album is oriented but coherent or consecutive lyrics that are musically supported and tell the stories involving the Necrohedron. Kris was inspired by an old Roman object called the “Dodecahedron”. There are many theories but for the concept of Dragonbreed he renamed it a “Necrohedron, hedron stands for plains or dimensions because it is an object that is used to open portals to summon demons and other dark creations from one of the undead dimensions. So that´s what Necrohedron is all about. And as mentioned before, the lyrics all tell different stories framing the Necrohedron based on the idea of the different Hellraiser movies.Different films that all revolve around a central object.

A5:Who are these forlorn in the seventh song?

Dragonbreed:The song "curse of the forlorn" goes in a quite similar direction, describing the story of undead creatures who were awakened and brought back against their will, cursed to kill everything.

A6:Literally Speaking: Is the world ridiculous?

Dragonbreed:Maybe. In my opinion, the world should be admitted to a clinic, better sooner than later, in order to get a sustainable treatment and cure. The impact of decisions you make on the future might be so severe… many people don’t think about this.Luckily,we still have a lot of good people in the world that form some kind of a counterweight for all that shit that is happening around. Nevertheless,it is sometimes ridiculous I would say.

A7:What is the current world stage according to the band's concept?

Dragonbreed:If I understand the question correctly, I would say that the world in its current status is, among other things, confused, difficult to comprehend to understand and deal with and more complicated than you might think. There are various crises or construction-sites that have either only been partially or not yet worked on next to all those who have not even been discovered or are not to be discovered. And we only get a part of the total topics and problems occurring in the world, there is much more.

A8:Oskar Schindler said that war only brings out the worst side of us,

never the best. Does the band agree with this or is it just one

perspective among many that can exist?

I would say that war brings out both the best and the worst in people at the same time but not necessarily to the same extent. I wouldn´t focus on one side because that would be too one-dimensional thinking. But that might fit for any other crisis other than war too. It’s not only evil and the bad that arises but the good as well. Once again like some kind of a counterweight for example.

A9:How did the band arrive to MDD Records?

We are extremely happy to find a home with Dragonbreed in Markus at “MDD Records” as it is the case with other projects like “Fall Of Carthage” or “SuidAkrA” as well. Markus is extremely dedicated, passionate and in love with music. He will give it everything and will support all his bands under the flag of MDD. So, after we came up with the idea of creating this new project called Dragonbreed and he was listening to some first demo files he was in love with the idea and what it stands for right away.

A10:What´s the idea behind the album artwork?

Dragonbreed:The Artwork as mentioned before, is done by Kris and we really love it. He's just such a talented artist and he's shown and proven that to us so many times. The cover shows the Necrohedron object in the middle around which everything revolves and various creatures and demons can be summoned that you can see here as well.

A11:We know that this decision has only now spawned an album. But before

that happened, how long has this musical marriage of yours existed

before this son named Necrohedron?

Dragonbreed:It can be said that from the first idea to start a new project to the finished master, it was really quite fast. So, it took about a year to finalize the demo songs, to write lyrics and to place them appropriately, to finalize the band structure, to record the lyrics professionally in the studio and later on to record everything else at our home studios and to finally mix and master Necrohedron.

A12:This album is conceptual? Yes or no, and why?

Dragonbreed:No. At SuidAkrA we have been working for a long time with concepts created by Kris Vervimp on which our albums are based on. With Dragonbreed, on the other hand, the approach is quite different. There is no ready-made concept/storyline on which the album is oriented.

A13:How is Dragonbreed different from your previous bands?

Dragonbreed:There are similarities but as well definite differences here. Some familiar faces that work on that project as well as new members who joined in and bring their own personal style into it. The overall approach is quite different because it is a Melodic Death Metal Project. That has a definite impact on the music. There is no fixed Storyline concerning the lyrics but different stories in no particular order that are musically supported.

A14:Does the songs have black humor?

Dragonbreed:No,I don't think so and that was not intended in the writing process of this album.

A15:How long did the pre-production of this album take?

Dragonbreed:Since many ideas as well as almost finished songs were already there from the beginning, the start to the whole project was already quite simple. For about a year we then worked on finalizing the songs and maturing everything as necessary and we thought it was perfect.

A16:Philosophical question. Based on the songs of album and your own opinion, is it better to think of the human being as an agony or as an animal for health?

Dragonbreed:Humans although biologically descended from the animal kingdom, have evolved over time and have chosen and placed themselves above everything that can not only be described as dangerous, but also as "inhuman" in this description. The natural balance is more than just disturbed by the lasting and the various human wars, injustice, suffering, natural damage that impressively show which direction was taken. Mankind can be cruel, selfish, one-dimensional, destructive and wasteful with a disposition to rise above all else.
