We speak again of our newsroom, where in a little while, we will begin in all your emotions. The Interview 123 of the Aristocracy. This time, we will do something new on our page. We will talk to a band that showed two works. their second EP entitled Ils n'ont pas passé. The band talked about these two works. We thank them very much for their work and for answering our questions. We also have to thank the Italians from AD Noctem Records for working together with them, now let's to a song by them and at the beginning of this interview with a band that doesn't waste time in service.

A1:Let´s talking about the composition works in Ils n'ont pas passé and The Weight of Void?

Barbarossa:Let's start out with “The Weight of Void”. The composition there has been carried out mostly in rehearsal room and we put together things following mainly our inspiration. There are some odd passages here and there that make it interesting in it's own way.Ils non't pas passè is just a taste of what we are currently working on. We decided to face the composition with a more organized approach and we spend much more time evaluating our work and making demo version of the songs. We want our stuff to sound big, fiery and athmospheric and we strive to take every little piece of the puzzle to it's sweet spot.

A2:What were the real reasons for the departures of Alex, Cristiano and Marcello?

Barbarossa:Alex and Cristiano have been very reliable band members and great friends, but when me and Davy wanted to push more on the project and invest in it more time and energy they decided to step aside because they couldn't keep up. Marcello expected to get important gigs and labels in a very short time, which is not realistic starting from the underground, so he decided to leave our project.

A3:It's not that I don't like that the band has elements of Thrash and Black Metal, which I liked. But, did it come from previous bands or personal tastes that already existed before the band was formed?

Barbarossa:I love listening to black metal, especially old school stuff, Davy loves Testament and Exodus, Nicolò is into more modern stuff., Amedeo comes from power metal...The great thing about playing together is that your usual boring riff can sound just great if you change that little thing your drummer or your singer is telling you. We are succeding in shaping our songs in such a manner that meets the taste of all of us and we are really happy with this thing!

A4:Why do some songs on the EP have French and German names?

Barbarossa:The concept we are introducing in the Ep, which will be fully exploited in the album, talks about the Great War (1914-1918). Our objective is to create a song for every (or at least for the main) warring nations. Ils non't pas passé talks about the battle of Verdun (France, 1916) and I wanted to give a great vibe to the song using some lyrics in French language. Auf wiedersehen Sagen is about the italian front, from the Austria-Hungary point of view.

A5:Some literature or film inspire the band?

Barbarossa:I look for ispiration in many films and writings for my lyrics, but usually it's not just “that film” or “that book”usually there are many frames taken here and there that I put together to make everything work.

A6:What are the original ideas brought to the 2020 album? Were they used in any way for the EP?

Barbarossa:We didn't start writing that album with a real objective, we just plugged our stuff and said “ok, let's see what's coming out”. The album in it's own still sounds cohesive, and the lyrics are somehow linked because they are quite introspective and ermetic.

A7:Why was the name Stinger aborted?

Barbarossa:Because we didn't like it and it wasn't linked to our stuff in any way. I'm surprised you could still find it around in the internet.

A8:What kind of subject don´t deserve a Barbarossa song?

Barbarossa:As a death metal band we're not going to write about butterflies and rainbows obviously...anyway, I try to stay away from things I don't think to understand well enough. I happen to have friends with mental illness, and I'm not going to touch that stuff in any way. I don't feel to understand those problems well enough and it would be disrespectful to people who suffer from it.

A9:I heard that there is a British singer who nicknamed is the name of the band. Does the band know him?

Barbarossa:Nope, I'll check it out.

A10:How band arrive to Ad Noctem Records?

Barbarossa:We wanted to sign with a medium label which could took care about our songs, so our agency put us in contact with Ad Noctem. We liked them, they liked us and we are all happy with the release.

A11:Why was a new version of the song Confessions through Torture made?

Barbarossa:Because we fuckin love it and we still play it live, so we wanted our new members to have their share and to put their own touch in the new version

A12:What band mean with Dearth?

Barbarossa:Famine. The song is about your limit and where you could arrive if events are advert to you.

A13:Are the Full album and EP separate works or continuities?

Barbarossa: There is not a logic line between the album and those new tracks, at least not in the lyrics. As I mentioned before, the EP presents a new concept, witch will be fully covered in our next album.

A14:What is evil enough in its originality?

Barbarossa:It's all matter of what you are able to accept, we don't need to watch that far to see examples of evil things. The real question is how much of it you can stand.

A15:What would the 2022 Barbarossa say to the 2014 Barbarossa?

Barbarossa:Dont be afraid to change

A16:Based on the songs from the 2020 album and the 2022 EP, answer in your own words. Do you have the feeling that we lie more than our parents because of existing social media?

Barbarossa:I think that we, as society, reached a nice level of tolerance and comprehension, I don't feel we have more reason to lie than in the past, conversely, in the past much more people had to hide their problems or preferences because that was not socially acceptable.

I'm curious, how did you come up with this question?

A17:What´s bands influence ours?

Barabarossa:Death, Mgla, Bloodbath, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Exodus, Aborted.

Observation!Answering the Band Question in Question 16!

I'm a philosophy professor and I have this Heavy Metal page. Philosophy generally likes classical music, heavy metal has its origins in classical music. So, I like to make the bands I interview think a little. from the common place is very easy. You need to be original always, it's a necessary and fundamental challenge for me and for my life in philosophy and in the metal page. Your country in metal and philosophy and the band of course, are spectacular in stage and answering my questions.
